Karma and Reincarnation: The Wisdom of Yogananda, Volume 2 (v. 2)
Yogananda combines a belief in karma and reincarnation with belief in God. He would put it stronger: he knows intimately about both. This is his account.
Amazon Price: $5.46
List Price: $9.95
Karma and Reincarnation: Transcending Your Past, Transforming Your Future (Pocket Guides to Practical Spirituality Series)
Elizabeth Clare Prophet is one of the best introductory authors in the spiritual scene. This book is a great introduction into reincarnation and karma. It sets these doctrines in a historical perspective.
Amazon Price: $3.15
List Price: $6.95
Reincarnation: The Missing Link In Christianity
Also by Elizabeth Clare Prophet, this book explains how reincarnation does NOT contradict the Bible. Believe me, you'll have a whole new perspective on the Bible after having read this book.
Amazon Price: $6.99
List Price: $18.95
Your Soul's Plan: Discovering the Real Meaning of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born
Explains reincarnation in the context of the long term plan for (and by) the soul. As the book says: "There is a need to create limitation, as the soul uses limitation in your realm for growth. As you experience limitedness, there is a need to overcome frustration, work within one's own parameters, and focus energy--an energy that cuts through the density in your realm and creates spaces of light and a higher vibration."
Amazon Price: $10.45
List Price: $16.95

Books about karma and reincarnation abound. I've found you four, by three authors, that will help you understand these twin doctrines and how they apply to your personal life.

Paramhansa Yoganada was a Bengali (Indian) spiritual teacher and mystic who explored many Indian spiritual options before meeting his guru at 17. His book about his teacher and his own spiritual path 'autobiography of a yogi' introduced many people to meditation and the possibilities of yoga. He is what you might call a deistic yoga teacher: the experience of oneness with God is central to his path.

Elizabeth Clare Prophet was a channeler. She channeled 'ascended masters'. Ascended masters are people who were spiritual masters on this earth, before moving on to higher spheres. Because they were so advanced spiritually on earth, their teachings are of help to humanity.

Whether or not you believe in her channeling, her books combine Eastern and Western wisdom in a way that's very compelling. I would not advise anybody to read her books and have it end there. However, they are a great introduction into central spiritual concepts.

I've listed two of her books here for that reason. More books by Elizabeth Clare Prophet.

Robert Schwartz is the only one on this list who is still alive. A searcher for years, he decided to consult a medium in 2003. She astounded him with her intimate knowledge of not only his life, but also his thoughts and feelings. He delved into spiritual and metaphysical teachings after that. Studying pre-birth plans for dozens of individuals with the help of mediums, he found that very different lives were chosen by souls, for very similar reasons. His book 'soul's plan' was born.

    • The 11 Karmic Spaces, Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati

Karma has fascinated me for decades now (yikes, I’m getting old), so the offer to get a review copy of Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati’s new book ‘The 11 Karmic Spaces: Choosing Freedom from the Patterns that Bind You‘ came as a welcome surprise. Unfortunately, the book isn’t as much about karma as you’d think. The [...] - 3 months ago

    • Guided meditations on the Stages of the Path, Thubten Chodron

Guided meditation is probably the most accessible type of meditation for beginners out there. After all: all one has to do is listen. The voice of the meditation instructor will help you get back to the meditation when your mind wanders (which it will). However, Thubten Chodron’s guided meditations may not fit your idea of [...] - 3 months ago

    • Andrew Cohen, Evolutionary Enlightenment: a new path to spiritual awakening

Evolutionary Enlightenment: A New Path to Spiritual Awakening is the first book by Andrew Cohen that I’ve read. His name precedes him of course: both on the good and the not-so-good. But I’ll let the book stand on it’s own two feet. Let’s start with the style: Andrew Cohen really is a great writer. The words [...] - 4 months ago

    • Mirror of the free, Nicholas Swift: on the origin of the Tarot

Those of you who are into Western Esotericism and Tarot will be glad to hear that Nicholas Swift has taken Blavatsky up on the hints she gave in her letters and looked at the Babylonian cylinders. Blavatsky Collected Writings Vol XIV pp 106, 94 and 174, p. 12 of the book under review. This is not [...] - 6 months ago

    • When the chocolate runs out, Lama Yeshe

Sometimes books come just at the right time. When the Chocolate Runs Out by Lama Yeshe was given to me as a ‘refuge‘ gift. Yes, I’m now officially a Buddhist. When the Chocolate Runs Out, by Lama Thubten Yeshe is the kind of book we’ve come to expect from Buddhist spiritual teachers: deep practical psychology, [...] - 8 months ago

    • Wisdom Man: Banjo Clarke, an Aboriginal Elder

We’ve become used to a changing society, however few people so much exemplify the struggles, challenges and opportunities for spiritual growth as Banjo Clark, an Australian aboriginal did. I did not know much about the injustices done to the aboriginal people of Australia. In Wisdom Man: Banjo Clarke I’ve learned that not only were they denied property [...] - 10 months ago

    • Now: Embracing the Present Moment, Rick Singer

Don’t we all love quotes books? There’s a reason quotes websites are so popular. Richard Singer has come out with a book in which he first gathers inspiring quotes on ‘living in the now’ and then comments on them, showing how you can transform your life by living those quotes. That really could be the [...] - 10 months ago
